About Us

What Is Nilaari?

What do we do?

We are a Black led charity and for 21 years we have provided mental health support, especially to adults from Black Asian and Minoritised Communities

Where are we?

We are based in the community of Easton in Bristol

Who are we?

We are a diverse team of professional and experienced practitioners and therapists

We use the term Black and Minoritised Communities (BMC) to refer to groups who are discriminated against and subordinated in status to a more dominant group on the grounds of race, culture, colour or nationality – not just skin colour

Our vision

To offer culturally appropriate mental health services to Black and Minoritised Communities in the southwest

Our mission

To help people access quality mental health treatment

Our aim

To reduce the stigma associated with mental illness

We are steered and directed by a Board of Trustees and are proud to be supported by our Patrons:

Sherrie Eugene-Hart – Former TV and Radio Reporter, sign language interpreter, writer, speechmaker and florist

Peaches Golding OBE – Business Executive, administrator, and former academic who is Lord-Lieutenant of the County and City of Bristol

Roger Griffith MBE – Writer, Social entrepreneur, Lecturer and activist. He has been a diversity trainer and champion for over 30 years
